Recently a friend of mine investigated solar power water pumps. He wanted to add a fountain in his yard that is self-sustaining using energy from the sun rather than electricity. That way the fountain will be both decorative and provide aeration, without having to be on all the time. When the sun is out, the fountain turns on. At night or rainy days, the fountain is off.
Intrigued by my environmentally friendly friend, I also found out that solar pumps can perform a variety of operations. Yes, they are used commonly in garden ponds and fountains.
